Frames of Self & Belonging: Iranian Shorts

Frames of Self & Belonging: Iranian Shorts

Tuesday, September 9 — 7 PM

Short films by Iranian filmmakers Arman Hodasefat and Negar Soofi, followed by a live Q&A.

Presented by the Global Film & Cultures Minor

Arman Hodasefat directs surreal, character-driven narratives, including Home No Return (2024), Mammoth (2024), and Harmony (2025), exploring themes of memory, migration, and the psychological toll of displacement. His work is known for its haunting and haptic visual style.

Negar Soofi creates powerful stop-motion and essay films—Self-Portrait (2024) and Melancholy (2025)—offering profound insights into gender, identity, and contemporary Iranian life from a distinctly female perspective.

With support from the School of Communications, Turner Theatre, College of Arts & Sciences, World Languages & Culture, Elon Student Television
