Building a Bridge
Wednesday, May 15 — 7-8 PM
This documentary explores the leadership styles of two reverends from distinct cultural backgrounds—one who leads a predominantly white Christian church and the other who leads a predominantly Black Christian church. Their two churches sit across the street from each other in Burlington, North Carolina. Reverend Ervin Milton and Reverend Dan Ficklin have known each other for years. Their lunch conversations can last for hours as they discuss faith and their congregational differences. This documentary film will utilize interviews and original footage to examine how these faith leaders navigate the complexities of their respective congregations while maintaining their friendship. The film can contribute to a larger discussion on faith-based leadership, highlighting the importance of cultural awareness and adaptive strategies in promoting social change within congregational settings.
